SUMMARY:Volunteering with Your Pet
DESCRIPTION:You are invited to a one-hour virtual presentation by Elin MacKinnon\, LCSW\, on Volunteering with Your Pet. This presentation is designed to orient you to the Pet Partners Therapy Animal Program as a way of volunteering in the community with your pet. We’ll cover requirements and the process for registering with Pet Partners.  For those of you who determine volunteering with your pet is not the right fit for you or your animal – we will be discussing other ways to be involved.  Register here for this Zoom training.  Pet Partners is a national volunteer organization with nearly 15\,000 teams in 50 states as well as Canada. Our mission is to improve human health and well-being through the power of the human/animal bond.   \nElin MacKinnon\, LCSW\, is a consultant with the CCC. She has volunteered with Pet Partners for nearly 10 years\, first as a volunteer team with her dog Nemo\, and currently as an evaluator of  human and animal teams. She is also a volunteer with Silent Sidekicks\, a local organization based in Lincoln\, Maine\, and prior to the pandemic was volunteering at a library in Steuben where children would improve their reading skills by reading to her therapy dog\, Dory.

SUMMARY:Logical consequences as positive parenting
DESCRIPTION:Join the CCC for Logical Consequences as Positive Parenting\, presented by Elin MacKinnon\, LCSW.  In this brief training we will review the differences between natural consequences\, logical consequences\, and punishment when used as behavior management strategies with children. We’ll take a quick look at the evidence for using the logical consequences approach. We’ll spend the remainder of the time talking about real examples and ideas on how to apply this strategy to those situations. This training could be a helpful introduction to using this technique as a parent\, and service providers may find it helpful to better understand the use of logical consequences when offering behavior management suggestions for parents they work with.  Please register using this link.
