SUMMARY:Volunteering with Your Pet
DESCRIPTION:You are invited to a one-hour virtual presentation by Elin MacKinnon\, LCSW\, on Volunteering with Your Pet. This presentation is designed to orient you to the Pet Partners Therapy Animal Program as a way of volunteering in the community with your pet. We’ll cover requirements and the process for registering with Pet Partners.  For those of you who determine volunteering with your pet is not the right fit for you or your animal – we will be discussing other ways to be involved.  Register here for this Zoom training.  Pet Partners is a national volunteer organization with nearly 15\,000 teams in 50 states as well as Canada. Our mission is to improve human health and well-being through the power of the human/animal bond.   \nElin MacKinnon\, LCSW\, is a consultant with the CCC. She has volunteered with Pet Partners for nearly 10 years\, first as a volunteer team with her dog Nemo\, and currently as an evaluator of  human and animal teams. She is also a volunteer with Silent Sidekicks\, a local organization based in Lincoln\, Maine\, and prior to the pandemic was volunteering at a library in Steuben where children would improve their reading skills by reading to her therapy dog\, Dory.

SUMMARY:Best Practice Tools for Interprofessional Collaboration
DESCRIPTION:Join the CCC for Best Practice Tools for Interprofessional Collaboration\, a new free\, virtual training.  We’ve probably all had some kind of memorable team meeting experience. For some\, it was worthwhile and for others it wasn’t. For many of us\, it was somewhere in between. In this training we’ll take a look at what it takes to make wraparound supports between helping professionals productive and meaningful. Participants will also explore foundational substance use and recovery knowledge\, including recognizing multiple recovery pathways\, reducing stigma through person-first language\, and promoting dignity in their work. Participants will gain strategies and tools to effectively integrate these practices into their work with students\, families\, and community members affected by alcohol and substance use disorders.  Download a flyer to share. \nThis training will be held in Science 102 at the University of Maine Machias\, from 9 am to 12 Noon.  Please arrive early for some delicious morning refreshments and to get comfortably settled.  Participants will receive a certificate for three contact hours upon completion of the digital post-training evaluation.  Registration for this training is closed.  Contact Christy at claurel@cccmaine.org if you would like to attend.
