DESCRIPTION:Welcome to the CCC’s 6th annual Family Harvest Meal\, a free public supper with resource tables and raffle prizes following Trick or Treat Down Main Street in Machias at the Lee Pellon Center from 4 — 6 pm.  All are welcome to eat in or take food to go.  This year’s menu catered by Angie’s Comfort Kitchen is roast turkey\, mashed potatoes\, stuffing\, gravy\, and harvest vegetables with mac ‘n cheese as an alternate entree.  Desserts include apple and blueberry crisp\, and cookies and brownies donated by Machias Memorial High School\, Washington Academy and the West Lubec Methodist Church.  Download a flyer to share. \nAdding to the spooky fun this year is a haunted house just outside the Lee Pellon Center coordinated by the Machias Arts Council. \nLike to get involved?  We’re always looking for people to help us set up\, serve\, bus tables\, and more.  Contact Charley Martin-Berry (cmartinberry@cccmaine.org) to volunteer.  Set-up starts at 12:30\, resource tables can be set up between 2 – 3 pm\, and servers are asked to arrive by 3:30 pm. \nIf you’d like to make a donation to help us fund this community feast\, Thank you!  Here’s a link to our donation site. Contact Christy at claurel@cccmaine.org with any other questions.  We love hosting this community meal and hope to see you there!

SUMMARY:MCHT Focus Group on Using Local Parks & Trails
DESCRIPTION:Maine Coast Heritage Trust staff will lead a focus group for CCC partners at 12 Noon\, April 2nd\, in the large conference room at Sunrise County Economic Council in Machias.  The focus group will be a “brown bag lunch” opportunity just prior to the CCC monthly Work Group meeting.  MCHT is seeking input from a variety of community groups that would be interested in sharing barriers\, needs\, and wishes when it comes to accessing local conserved lands and recreational trails.  CCC partners are invited to bring personal and professional perspectives on the topic.  MCHT will provide $25 gas cards as an incentive for participation.

DESCRIPTION:The Community Caring Collaborative invites you to a new training on April 17th\, Tools for Change: Understanding Substance Use and Supporting Safer Choices\, presented by Abby Frutchey\, LMSW\, LADC\, CCS.  The practice of harm reduction has evolved significantly\, offering a comprehensive approach to creating safer outcomes for individuals\, families\, and communities. Join us for a 3 hour in-person\, partner-wide training that will examine the core principles of harm reduction through interactive methods\, including case studies\, discussions\, and practical applications. Special emphasis will be placed on understanding harm reduction as a vital component of substance use recovery interventions\, highlighting how these practices meet people where they are while fostering pathways to improved health and well-being. Participants will also explore foundational substance use and recovery knowledge\, including recognizing multiple recovery pathways\, reducing stigma through person-first language\, and promoting dignity in their work. DESCRIPTION:The CCC is excited to be bringing a new training: Guiding with Purpose: Strengthening Skills for Collaborative Dialogue\, presented by Abby Frutchey\, LMSW\, LADC\, CCS.  This 3-hour virtual training\, developed for FFD but open to all CCC partners\, is designed to enhance participants’ ability to lead meaningful\, person-centered conversations that foster connection\, motivation\, and growth. Emphasis is placed on the practice of deep listening and the use of collaborative strategies to create an empowering environment that supports sustainable change. \nThrough interactive exercises and “real-play” practice\, participants will refine foundational skills such as open-ended questioning\, affirmations\, reflections\, and summarization. SUMMARY:Family Harvest Meal 2025
DESCRIPTION:The CCC’s Annual Family Harvest Meal is still on for Friday\, October 31st this year — rain or shine.   Angie’s Comfort Kitchen will cater a delicious roast turkey dinner beginning at 4 until food runs out.  This year we welcome community organizations involved in food security who offer their own community meals to participate in our harvest dinner.  Cobscook Institute and Lubec Community Outreach Center are just a couple of organizations who will be contributing to the meal\, along with our loyal volunteer bakers\, like the Lubec Women’s Club and Machias Memorial High School.  We also welcome family-serving agencies to drop off flyers\, rack cards and other materials they’d like families to see\, and we always welcome more volunteers to help set up\, serve\, clean up spills\, direct traffic\, and help us tend to everyone’s needs.
