UMaine Machias Wabanaki Voices Series
October 7th, Science 102 at 1 pm: Christiana Becker will be offering the Abbe Museum’s Deconstructing Stereotypes Program to the University of Maine at Machias community on Monday, October 7th. The program examines and explains stereotypes commonly held about Native Americans or Indigenous Peoples of North America. As a group, we define what a stereotype is and explore our initial thoughts when we hear the word “Native American”. We also compare and contrast examples of appreciation versus appropriation of Indigenous culture. Join us in person or via zoom! *This will not be a recorded event.
October Biz Fit
Friday, October 4th, 8 – 9 am: Got a never-ending To Do list? Constantly thinking of new, different, more things to try? Always adding new tasks and ideas without considering what to eliminate? We often overwhelm ourselves with “more” and overlook the power of “less” in boosting productivity and efficiency. We’ll focus our conversation on why that is easier said than done, why we constantly add, but rarely SUBTRACT. We’ll use some of the basic strategies put forth by Leidy Klotz. Leave the session with possibly one less thing “to do!” Learn More and Register.
- Class start date: November 2024
- Class time will be virtual
- In-person labs in Baileyville TBD

Actor Bradley Cooper has produced a documentary, “Caregivers” that he hopes will “raise the banner for caregivers” by elevating the conversation to a national level. The film will air on PBS and feature caregivers talking about the highs and lows of their caregiving experience. Watch a short clip of the documentary.
