Volunteering with Your Pet
May 16 @ 10:00 am - 11:00 am
You are invited to a one-hour virtual presentation by Elin MacKinnon, LCSW, on Volunteering with Your Pet. This presentation is designed to orient you to the Pet Partners Therapy Animal Program as a way of volunteering in the community with your pet. We’ll cover requirements and the process for registering with Pet Partners. For those of you who determine volunteering with your pet is not the right fit for you or your animal – we will be discussing other ways to be involved. Register here for this Zoom training. Pet Partners is a national volunteer organization with nearly 15,000 teams in 50 states as well as Canada. Our mission is to improve human health and well-being through the power of the human/animal bond.
Elin MacKinnon, LCSW, is a consultant with the CCC. She has volunteered with Pet Partners for nearly 10 years, first as a volunteer team with her dog Nemo, and currently as an evaluator of human and animal teams. She is also a volunteer with Silent Sidekicks, a local organization based in Lincoln, Maine, and prior to the pandemic was volunteering at a library in Steuben where children would improve their reading skills by reading to her therapy dog, Dory.
