Calais ASIST 
Healthy Acadia invites you to a two-day, interactive workshop in suicide first-aid: “Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training” (ASIST) at the Downeast Recovery Support Center in Calais (311 Main Street) on March 14 & 15 from 9 am to 4 pm.  ASIST is designed for first responders, teens, parents, school personnel, or anyone who works in a helping profession. ASIST is open all community members who are 16 years or older. Recovery Wellness Meetings Starting Up
Please join Ann O’Brien, Brittany Voisine and guests for pizza and discussion, once a month at the Downeast Recovery Support Center in Machias (11 Free Street) on the first Friday of the month from 5:30 – 6:45 pm.  The first meeting is on March 4th, focusing on the topic of “Decreasing or stopping alcohol use.”  See flyer with list of dates and topics. For questions or for a zoom link if unable to attend in person, message the Recovery Center’s Facebook page.


Nominations sought for Norman W. Duzen Community Service Award
The Washington County Extension Association seeks nominations for the 2022 Norman W. Duzen Volunteer Award, honoring a Washington County resident whose volunteerism has enhanced the lives of community members. Norman W. Duzen had a special place in his heart for the people of Washington County and donated many hours of his time to make their lives better. University of Maine Cooperative Extension Washington County staff and the WCEA Executive Committee established the Norman W. Duzen Community Service Award in his honor. The recipient will receive a wooden keepsake box, engraved with their name, at the WCEA annual meeting. The recipient’s name also will be added to a plaque at the Washington County UMaine Extension office. The deadline for nominations is Friday, April 1.
